Re: From bike to Car

Hi tj
Firstly what are you going to be racing?
Mot tax and insurance req if your vehicle doesn't have a MSA log book which can be done at scruterneering for around £25ish
No safety equiptment as such required aslong as all original equiptment is in good working order and nowt is gunna fall off.
On the other hand for yourself you will need an all in-one fireproof romper suit (to the nessesary spec) boots and I think gloves are optional.
A motorsports helmet not a motorcycle one!!!helmet specs are on a previous post. Ian jackson put on.
You will need to do 3 obvserved runs but these can be done as part of your qualifing runs but they will be solo runs.
Disabilities arnt an issue but best person to speak to would be nigel holland he's in a wheelchair and it doesn't stop him kicking arse.
Not sure what costs are for this season yet but in 2008 when I last did it each event was around £140ish.
For that u get 4 tickets 1 pit pass and oppotunity to purchase cheaper tickets on the gate.
DRINK YES PLEASE....only thing is any newbies have to buy everyone in sportsman pits a pint at the bar,
(Did u like my new rule ian!!!!!)
O and u need to b a member of apira or sprc
Anything I have forgot or got wrong I'm sure the southerners will put me right!!
Hope this helps

Steve

Re: From bike to Car

I'm back again if reading all that and all that expence scares you could go to york raceway spend around £75 in fees for the weekend and just go up an down all day long, but be warned take plenty of fuel because you will need it.
I have seen me and the wife do 20 plus runs a day in a varity of competition and rwyb.
All u need is any kind of helmet and long sleeves.its proper back to basics racing but loads of fun.
And if nothing else you just have to go in the bar on the evening its lots of fun...
